Leading the Epidemiology Research Department at Statens Serum Institut, I guide a talented team of 35-40 researchers and data scientists. Our goal? To tap into the rich potential of data and advanced analytical methods, improving our understanding of health and disease. My two-decade journey in pharmacoepidemiology, especially with Denmark's comprehensive health registers, has given me a solid understanding of the potentials and pitfalls of health data.At the core of my work is a fascination with the interplay of epidemiology, machine learning, and biostatistics. I'm all about harnessing these fields to shed light on health and disease and to contribute evidence that shapes healthcare policies and practices. Communicating our findings clearly and effectively to a wide range of audiences, from peers to policymakers and the public, is something I particularly enjoy.My decision to pursue a Leadership Diploma at DTU is driven by a desire to cultivate the best possible workplace culture in our department. I'm a firm believer in strong, empathetic leadership that nurtures a collaborative, innovative atmosphere. I strive to create an environment where openness, ownership, and the potential of every team member are the cornerstones.My research currently zeroes in on innovative applications of causal machine learning in pharmacoepidemiology. I'm excited about how these cutting-edge techniques can decipher complex relationships in health data. My aim? To position our department at the leading edge of epidemiological research, blending advanced technology and data science to influence the future of public health.
