Dr. Muhammad Idrees obtained Ph.D. in Molecular Virology and worked for his post-doctoral research at Division of Viral Hepatitis, Coordinating Centre for Infectious Diseases, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Atlanta GA USA. Currently he is working as Vice Chancellor at Hazara University Mansehra. His 20 years career experience has spanned research work in government laboratories at the CEMB/CAMB University of the Punjab. His group is the first in the country to conduct studies on viral hepatitis on molecular level. His research interests are the genetics and molecular biology of RNA/DNA viruses with a special emphasis on hepatitis viruses. His contribution in Molecular Biology especially molecular virology has been recognized at home and abroad and his research work has been published in 196 peer reviewed research papers in national/international scientific journals with an overall impact factor of more than 400 of citation of more than 4,000 and is inventor on one PAK patent. He had supervised 51 M. Phil and 23 PhD research scholars and currently supervising 5 M. Phil and 5 PhD research scholars. He is the editor of seven Internal Scientific Journals. He has been the principal/co-principal investigator of several research projects funded by national and international funding agencies, namely MoST, EMRO-WHO and Pak-USA. He was awarded the “Best Young Scientist of the year” in Biology in 2009 by Third World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) Italy. He lectures widely on viruses and is teaching subject of Molecular Virology to M. Phil & Ph. D research scholars. In addition he also teach advance course on Real-time PCR to PhD research scholars.
