Musician I Physician I Manager. Passionate about leading teams and orgs in a creative environment. After receiving my violin diploma from the Universität der Künste in Berlin, I studied conducting at the city’s Hanns Eisler Hochschule für Musik. Parallel to my musical training, I also studied human medicine at Berlin’s Humboldt-Universität, where I obtained my Ph.D. in 2002. Shortly thereafter, I became the expert advisor for the German parliament’s CDU/CSU fraction on the Culture in Germany Enquête Commission. Since 2006, I have worked as CEO of the Cultural Committee of Germany's business within the BDI and Managing Director of the Kulturstiftung der deutschen Wirtschaft (the arts foundation of Germany’s business community). So up till now, I worked as medical doctor, musician, cultural manager, author and publisher of a large number of music productions. There are numerous recordings of performances I was allowed to conduct in collaboration with great orchestras such as the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, the Orchester-Akademie of Berliner Philharmoniker, the Munich Chamber Orchestra, Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin or the Deutsche Oper Berlin. Besides, I feel proud to support the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe as an honorary professor as well as the former Chairman of the University Council and to assume further honorary posts on management boards or advisory councils. Besides, I feel very honored being regularly invited as seminar lecturer by the Harvard Kennedy School as well as the ESMT Berlin. Since 2015, I have been the Artistic Director of the Siemens Arts Program and the global head of Siemens’ culture and sponsoring programs.
