I have led efforts in risk management and compliance in the field of Transplantation on a global scale. This included developing and implementing robust risk management strategies to safeguard the organization's reputation and financial stability. Championing clinical excellence and innovation, I have fostered a culture of continuous improvement, supporting research, evidence-based practices, and the adoption of new technologies and treatment modalities. Possessing a PhD and a medical degree, I understand the strategic issues in higher education as well as in a professional organization like the TTS and have an extensive network of relationships with academic, industry, and professional institutions. My interpersonal and communication skills enable me to work cooperatively in inclusive decision-making environments, and my leadership capabilities have been demonstrated in both academic and industry settings, ensuring the successful navigation of the relationships between professional organizations, university, industry and health sectors.

With a strong background in clinical medicine and a strategic approach to clinical services, I have developed and executed comprehensive clinical service strategies that align with Stellenbosch University’s organizational goals. My expertise includes assessing and reacting to trends in our healthcare environment, identifying growth opportunities for students, and driving innovation in science, clinical service delivery and a broad spectrum of training. In my role overseeing the Faculty’s operations, I have provided strategic direction and oversight across multiple divisions, including basic science, nursing, medicine, and allied health. My ability to build and nurture strategic relationships with key stakeholders, including healthcare providers, regulatory agencies, professional organizations, and industry partners, has been instrumental in advocating for clinical interests and fostering collaboration towards shared goals. In addition to these clinical-focused skills, I bring a wealth of experience in leadership and management within the higher education sector. As a head of faculty and dean, I have managed academic performance, fostered talent development, and maintained key external relationships, including with philanthropic donors and industry partners. My financial acumen includes managing faculty budgets and ensuring financial sustainability while adhering to work health safety standards and university policies.
