I play a key role in the development of OfS’s investigatory approach into quality issues to inform regulatory decision-making, and in identifying issues that need to be improved at providers that are not meeting OfS minimum requirements for quality.

Pro Vice Chancellor (Learning and Teaching)I was responsible for development and implementation of learning and teaching strategies associated with the new education strategy, and managing learning and teaching provision for all students. I was also responsible for the inclusion, equity, diversity and wellbeing agenda including all dimensions of the student life cycle experience (student orientation and transition, retention, success, graduate outcomes), quality assurance and enhancement. My work included substantial investment in staff development to support curriculum enhancement and student support including online provision and use of data analytics to inform learning and teaching working closely with the Business Intelligence team.

Professor in Higher Education, University of Southampton Education School.Developed and led the Centre for Higher Education at Southampton.In working for the VC's Office - led the development of the cross-institution Researching Assessment Practices (RAP) initiative engaging staff and students across all faculties; supported faculty curriculum development across Southampton to support uplift in NSS; developed cross-faculty research initiatives. Awarded Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence and Spotlight Award for advancing assessment practices at Southampton and across the sector using The Equity, Agency, and Transparenc Framework developed with staff and students to promote inclusive, effective and efficient assessment.

As Head of Teacher Education I led development of ITE strategy. Led on research on inclusive education through focus on individual differences in learning and relevance to assessment and feedback. Work across the sector led to awards of National Teaching Fellow and Principal Fellow. Chaired the University-wide Exeter ASPIRE Research Network (Accrediting Staff Professionalism in Research-Led Education) and led on innovative approaches to research-informed assessment practices.Member of ASPIRE leadership team involved in chairing and assessing Higher Education Academy applications for fellowship status nd enhancing university processes as part of this (2011-13).

Responsible for quality of ITE provision across the institution including the partnership strategy. Worked with the Leadership Centre in promoting innovative pedagogy working with overseas partners. My assessment transitions research supported a successful NTF project involving multiple partners. 'Making sense of assessment and feedback in higher education' (Evans (2013) published in the highest ranked educational journal in the world is a significant output from this work; it has framed much national and international work in assessment and feedback.

Transformed medical education postgraduate delivery to ensure relevance and authencity in design working with colleagues across the sector. Supported junior doctor development through focused CPD project development working closely with consultants in practice. Led the design and implementation of the postgraduate quality assurance framework for medical education across Kent, Surrey, and Sussex.
