Fidonet is a global communications network, and was at this time the second largest communications network in the world with something of the order of 25,000 independent network nodes; it is sometimes now referred to as the world's first social network. The Fidonet Technical Standards Committee are developers competively elected from across the world, and the chair is also competitively elected.In this role, I led and coordinated the other elected developers in reviewing, maintaining and developing new technical standards that were used by Fidonet and other networks derived from it.I also led the Y2K project for Fidonet, creating standards and toolkits for testing Y2K fixes, and ensuring vital infrastructure was appropriately patched.In my tenure I created the first internet presence for the committee and its standards and associated documents. -
