He was born in Kayseri, Turkey, received his medical degree from Ankara University Medicine Faculty. He obtained his license as a specialist of Internal Medicine at the Karadeniz Technical University and his license of Hematology at the Marmara University Medicine Faculty and worked as a assistant professor at the same university. He participated in the Northwestern University Robert Lurie Cancer Center Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant Program, Chicago as a visiting scholar in 2004-2005. Then he continued his studies at the Marmara University Medicine Faculty as a “Hematology Associated Professor” and resigned in 2008. Dr. Mustafa Cetiner worked at the Hematology Department of V.K.V. American Hospital and a professor lecturer, founder and head of the Internal Medicine Department at the Koç University School of Medicine. He is currently working at Acibadem Maslak Hospital as a medical doctor and professor in hematology department.He is the member of Turkish Medical Association, the Turkish Society of Hematology, American Society of Hematology, European Hematology Association and MDS Foundation, etc. He is the cofounder and co-president of “Cancer Survivors” Foundation.He has more than 50 papers in peer-reviewed scientific publications, presented over 100 lecturers and papers in various national & international congresses, and he has also written 3 books on hematological malignancies. He has also 4 popular scientific books titled “To Your Health”, “Portraits From Lymphoma History” and “the Milestones on the Hematology History”, Are we birds or chickens?” He had been a columnist in Cumhuriyet Newspaper between 1999-2015. He is now a columnist in a weekly magazine called “Science and Technology for everybody”. Dr. Çetiner, is interested with medical ethics and medical history, has over 300 articles published in national popular scientific magazines. He was the constant guest and scientific consultant of TV Show “Cancer & Life” CNN-Turk in 2006.
