Professor James Logan is the CEO and co-founder of Arctech Innovation, a spinout from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Arctech's mission is to save lives and empower people through cutting-edge digital health solutions, including odour-based diagnostics and pest and vector monitoring technologies. These innovative platforms harness the extraordinary sensing capabilities of insects, transforming this natural phenomenon into electronic diagnostic tools and data-driven monitoring systems. James also spearheads the Global Vector Hub, a data platform designed to analyze and interpret information to predict pest and disease outbreaks, strengthening global preparedness and response efforts. In 2011, James founded Arctec and led it for 11 years. He co-founded Vecotech Ltd, the first spinout company from the London School, in 2015 to commercialize intellectual property. In 2021, he orchestrated the merger of Arctec and Vecotech to create Arctech Innovation, uniting their expertise under one brand. A passion for science, technology, and invention runs deep in James' family history—his ancestor invented the modern bicycle and he carries that spirit of innovation forward. Beyond his entrepreneurial work, James is a science and natural history TV presenter for the BBC and Channel 4 and frequently appears in the media as a scientific expert.
