About Professor Sally Everett

Sally Everett is Professor of Business Education and Vice Dean Education for Kings Business School, and was recently interim deputy Dean at Kings College London. She established and co leads Women@KBS the inclusive gender network, leads the Learning and Teaching programme for Chartered ABS and mentors colleagues looking to progress on education focused pathways. She was previously Deputy Dean for Business and Law at Anglia Ruskin University 2013-2018. She is a National Teaching Fellow (2017) and is a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and CATE award team leader (2016 award). She was the chair of the disability working group / inclusive champions at Anglia Ruskin University which drove forward its inclusive curriculum, and was co-lead of the Women’s Network steering group promoting gender equality and women in Higher Education leadership and was co-lead of its staff BME network. Sally Everett was Senior Lecturer in Tourism at the University of Bedfordshire (UK), before becoming its Head of Tourism, Leisure and Sport Management, and then the Head of Marketing, Tourism and Hospitality. In 2013, she became the Deputy Dean for the Business School at Anglia Ruskin University with responsibility for learning, teaching, quality and curriculum development. Sally was also an Executive Officer and Treasurer of the Leisure Studies Association (2009 – 2014) and has worked for a large heritage visitor attraction as its Development Officer (2003-7). She is an associate editor for Event Management and co Editor in Chief for Gastronomy and Tourism. She is a trustee of Enabled Archaeology (a disability archaeology charity) and member of the Education Committee for Brunel’s SS Great Britain. Her research interests include innovation in business education, inclusive education, decolonisation of the curriculum, food tourism, mega events and heritage interpretation. Dr Everett has recently published work on student engagement with industry gatekeepers and emotional labour, inclusive education and has published a textbook on students and employability skills, and another on food and drink tourism with Sage Publications, and has led funded projects on web-based solutions for sustainable development and another that designed online distance learning materials for the travel and tourism sector.

She enjoys being part of an institution which is embracing imaginative approaches in education which seek to ‘inspire and improve’. Priorities are driving forward innovation and creativity in the business curriculum, diversifying and improving assessment and feedback, fostering student-staff partnership through constructive collaboration, championing equality and diversity, and providing leadership for the new Academic Education Pathway career route. Sally is introducing authentic and creative assessment, launching vehicles to share and celebrate good practice, and enhancing the use of technology-enhanced learning to support the development of a culture of innovation in business and management education.
