As the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), I was responsible for providing strategic and innovative leadership to ensure the university delivers on its NeW Futures goals. I led the transformation of the university’s education and academic endeavours, and continued the delivery of equity of access and success, a great student experience and strong graduate outcomes. From 2017 -2019 I led the:- inception and implementation of the University of Newcastle’s education transformation agenda through the New Education Framework- creation of the Newcastle Educator Network (tEN) to support educators across the university- initiation and direction of the Turning to our Students’ organisational design project and development of the Student Experience Journey Map- advancement of digital course design including new online program development through FutureLearn and OpenLearning partnerships - reimagining of the Open Day and leading other new recruitment strategies - introduction of new program and course oversight and operational processes- steerage of the collaborative reconceptualising of the Wollotuka Indigenous Institute and its leadership

As Vice-Provost (Learning and Teaching) at Monash University, Australia, I was responsible for directing the University’s learning and teaching strategic activities. I am known as an energetic academic leader and over a four year period I used a collaborative approach to build and enable active teams, support innovation and transition, and effect significant cultural change. From 2013 -2017 I led the: - Inception and implementation of Monash’s education transformation agenda through the Better Teaching, Better Learning vision (2017 finalist for the Global Teaching Excellence Award 2017 by Advance HE, UK)- Genesis of the Monash Student Futures program, an initiative to enhance student career prospects (2017 ESS Global Award for Excellence in Innovation by the Association for Tertiary Education Management [ATEM], and 2016 Best Practice Award by the National Advisory Graduate Career Association Services [NAGCAS])-Design and establishment of the Monash Centre for Undergraduate Research Initiatives and Excellence (CURIE) (Grand Finalist in the Wharton-QS Stars Reimagine Education Awards in December 2017) - Creation of the Monash Education Academy and Program for Continuing Education Excellence Development (CEED) to support educators across the university- Redesign of the Education Performance Standards Framework- Development and implementation of the Monash Assessment Vision - Formulation and implementation of the Education Technology Roadmap- Initiation and development of the Monash MOOC Portfolio through the FutureLearn partnership and integration of digital education projects- Development of the learning environment design for major learning space initiatives including the extensive Learning and Teaching Building on the Clayton campus (2018 Winner, Vic Architecture Awards - Educational Architecture and Interior Architecture; 2018 AFR Higher Education Award – Facilities Innovation; 2018 National Architecture Award - AIA)

I was the Associate Dean at Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS) at the Universities of Sussex and Brighton with executive responsibilities for External Relations, International Affairs and Communications. My substantive post in the medical school was as Professor of Developmental Tissue Biology. As a passionate biomedical scientist I led an active research programme with a strong, high impact publication record. As the Head of Anatomy, Il ensured that anatomy was recognised as one of the unique selling points of the school. My teaching focussed on structural and functional anatomy and embryology in all health related disciplines as well as biological and biomedical sciences. At BSMS I was an enthusiastic promoter of public understanding of science and contributed fully through a variety of external relations projects including national media. I was also the Acting Head of the Institute of Postgraduate Medicine at the University of Brighton, responsible for strategic direction, academic and research portfolios, human resource planning and development, financial management and all operational matters.I was Reader (2006 – 2007) and Senior Lecturer (2003-2006) in Anatomy at the medical school
