Professor Jason Powell PhD, DSc (hc) is Provost, Chief Academic Officer and Distinguished Professor of UKMC providing strategic leadership to the entire academic enterprise, managing day-to-day operations of the College and overseeing the entire institution. As President and CEO, he headed up a brand-new HE provider, which aimed to challenge conventional education in order to develop work ready and innovative business and health and social care professionals. In addition, he was responsible for strategic planning and financial sustainability. He helped create the partnership with NCC Education Ltd in providing an International Diploma in Higher Education with progression opportunities to leading UK, US and Canadian Universities.An active, multidisciplinary researcher with broad experience working across different academic domains and policy landscapes, Professor Powell is a strong advocate for the role universities/HEIs can play in boosting the local economy and the significant difference they can make by addressing social, economic and business issues. He regularly works with the Department of Health and many TSOs.At MILE, Professor Powell led the expansion of portfolio, more than doubling its size and income and growing its academic reputation and employability with a core focus on growth, innovation, teaching effectiveness and learner success. He also founded and grew the institution's research centre for social inclusion to provide support to Greater Manchester businesses and health and social care professionals, helping them to thrive during the Covid-19 pandemic and beyond.

Jason led the research and knowledge exchange portfolio in relation to health and social care and business and management. He worked to contruct partnerships with employers for diagnostic CPD and enhance conditions of contractual and commissioned research.

As Sub-Dean, was formally responsible for the QA of Admissions process across the Faculty in line with external and internal policies.
