Jacqui Matthews qualified as a vet before completing a PhD in parasitology. She worked in academia for ~25 years, leading a range of projects valued at >£14M. Her outputs include >150 peer-reviewed papers, plus patents, lay articles and plenaries. Jacqui taught at three of the UK's vet schools, and has been active in vet and SQP CPD training for many years. She has acted as technical advisor to several initiatives in the animal health sector, with membership of grant review committees and editorial boards. Jacqui was conferred fellowship of the RCVS in 2017 and the Royal Society of Edinburgh in 2023. She is one of only two RCVS Recognized Specialists in veterinary parasitology. One of her inventions, the Small Redworm Blood Test, was commercialised by Austin Davis Biologics in 2019; in 2022, she moved to this company as their Director of Veterinary Science.
