Experienced general and breast surgeon with long-standing interest and international leadership roles in in the practice of surgery and patient-centred care, and in the selection, education, training and assessment of medical students and surgeons, and their subsequent professional development and performance in the workplace.I have been heavily involved in setting stands for the accreditation of medical schools, medical colleges, and hospitals for training, as well as participating in the accreditation process itself. I have also been very involved in settings standards of professional performance for surgeons in the workplace, as well as reviewing and managing those who were alleged to have fallen short of the expected ideals. My recent PhD enabled me to bring together my interests across these different area. I have recently expanded the research I undertook for this thesis and in particular the nineteenth-century novels which provide an interesting insight into the public's perception of contemporary surgeons and doctors. I am currently transforming my PhD manuscript into a format suitable for publication as a book.
