After working several stepping stone jobs in college, I became a school counselor. The position was filled with paperwork and not much time with students. It was within a couple years that I found the role of a Behavior Specialist Consultant on my resume. These years would prove to challenge me and allow growth as a person and a professional. While in the role as a BSC, I earned my medical license and became a Licensed BSC and also started teaching at the local community colleges. Here I am fifteen years later and I am still teaching psychology. Teaching was never a passion of mine until I walked into the classroom. It was there that I realized my true potential and found a way to reach people through the use of my words and wisdom. The textbook material could be translated through my own trauma and experiences to allow students to comprehend the material and find themselves relating to what was being said. Only now do I realize I can take my experiences outside of the classroom and into speaking engagements to help others learn and grow.
