Manager, Wanger Family Fab Lab
CurrentI support the development and implementation of educational programming in the Wanger Family Fab Lab -- a state-of-the-art digital fabrication laboratory in the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. The Fab Lab provides a unique opportunity for guests to engage in learning experiences that bridge art, design, science, and engineering; sparking innovation in youth and adult audiences.I am responsible for developing and leading workshops that are aligned with local, state, and national education standards for youth, families, and adults. The Fab Lab's educational programs support innovation and design processes, apply best practices in design and engineering education, and facilitate the development of 21st century skills.In this position I work closely with staff from other MSI program teams on programs that serve the Museum's school, community, and general public audiences. I also work with a cadre of volunteers with experience in design, engineering, and manufacturing; and work closely with the Fab Lab team to support these partnerships and operations.I organize and distill communications with internal staff, external program partners, and members of MIT’s (Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s) global Fab Lab network to create modern interactive Project Based Learning (PBL) curriculum.
