Management of facilities for students

Responsible for the University's ascending the university league table faster than any but one of the 100 institutions.

80 academic staff split 60/40 between Art & Design and Humanities; largest in Ireland, later ranked 5th in Research among 89 UK Universities

Asked by ViceChancellor of the new University of Ilorin 1977 to set up History Department there and plan the University’s Department of Business Studies – a new feature in Nigerian HE.

Doubled the size of the department and increased it archival colleciton

Added 10,000 m2 to existing academic space, drafted 5 year plan to add five new Departments and significantly increased the 120 complement of Nigerian and expatriate staff

Headed History from 1972, doubled staff over following four years.
