Dr.VG Sridhar ME., Ph.D., is one among the senior faculty member in VIT University and has 25 years of experience in teaching and research (16 Yrs. in VIT, Vellore and 9 yrs in VIT Chennai). Prof.VG Sridhar holds a PhD degree with specialization in automated Inspection. His area of interest and specialization are Advanced Manufacturing, Additive Manufacturing, Machine Vision System, Social Entrepreneurship, Product Development etc… Prof.VGS has guided several UG, PG and research students. Prof.VGS has published more than 60 plus papers in national, international conferences and peer reviewed journals and one book in non-contact inspection.He has been actively involved in social service activities and coordinated several social projects and activities through NSS, Youth Red Cross, Social Entrepreneur Club and Alumni Association. He has also served as Program Chair for M.Tech Manufacturing Engg., Prof. In-charge of placement for a short duration Deputy Director of Industry Relations and Incubation. He is a proud recipient of BOLT award instituted by Air India and The Hindu daily, Best Teacher award from Rotary Club, Thiruvanmayur, Chennai, also received a Best YRC District coordinator award from Indian Red Cross Chennai Branch, he had been chosen by the Department of Mechanical Engineering for Best Teacher award three times and received other laurels and appreciations within VIT University and outside. Prof.VG Sridhar, also a graduated incubatee of VIT-Technology Business Incubator, he has launched a startup company and provided software to students and educational institutions. Instrumental in signing MoU between and collaboration with Industries like Daimler India, Ramco Industries and UK universities like Cambridge University and University of Leicester.Has obtained funding from British Council to launch a Social Business Incubator at VIT, Chennai in association with Cambridge Business School, UK and Tech Mahindra, India to support and guide student startups. Prof.VGS is the former Chairman, Secretary General and core committee member of VITAA (as honorary member) and contributed to development of VITAA for more than 2 decades Prof.VG Sridhar has organised a three day online international Conference on Current Trends and Future Challenges in Education during 2020 involving more than 100 plus Educators, Policy makers, Industrialist, Entrepreneurs and Students 350 virtually. He is being serving as member in state level and national level committees, related to manufacturing, innovation and startups.
