About Ron Van Til

I’m a Project Management Professional (PMP) looking to add value to the next organization. I'm currently a Sr. Project Manager with LEI (Layco Electrical Innovations) supporting projects out of the Houston area. LEI builds E-houses and other electrical and automation equipment (https://www.lei-corp.com).From 2010 to 2021, I was a PM managing the engineering and construction (EPC) of natural gas compressor and meter stations for Boardwalk Pipeline. I have also had PM and Sr. PM roles with various consulting firms managing O&G engineering and design projects.Like many PMs in this role, it makes me a Jack of all Trades when it comes to knowing all the regulations, design, and construction requirements and principles associated with this. It takes a lot of collaboration and knowing a little about a lot. That includes the technical, budgeting and scheduling. I don't know anything about IT. That's a different type of PM. What I do know is how to manage an EPC project. I was also fortunate enough to have had hands-on experience with designing, building, installing and operating compression equipment, as well as managing field personnel. I'm not an engineer, but I did some time doing I&E engineering and design.All my qualifications and capabilities come from a life-long On the Job Training (OJT) which, after 35+ years, continues today. Despite how much technical know-how I may have, project management basically boils down to managing resources and relationships.These are the kind of jobs I'd be good at: Sr. Project Manager/Director managing engineering, EPC, and other projects. Asset Manager/Director: managing reliability and maintenance of physical resources of any kind. Operations Manager/Director: providing team leadership and technical mentoring for a variety of industrial service and operation such as compression, automation, electrical, process, packaging, etc.
