As a founding engineer at Jelly I was brought on to architect the invoice processing system, as well as to refactor various auxillary processes.The invoice process design was as follows:- Using AWS SES to automatically ingest emails for custom client domains- Using custom image pre-processing algorithms to treat and normalise the email attachments- Using a combination of custom and off the shelf models (pytorch, AWS Textract, tesseract, perceptron) to extract the text from the invoice- Using custom algorithms (Levenshtein with internal IP) to match the extracted text to recognised historical entities (Suppliers, Restaurants, Products)- Creating a custom client to load these suggestions and review them with confidence scores.In total I managed to reduce the processing time per invoice from an average of 4 minutes to an average of 27 seconds, representing an 88% overall efficiency increase.
