Hello! My name is Melvin and I'm a game designer with a passion for designing RPGs, strategy games, and card games. Those genres are ones I'm most passionate about, but I've worked on other game genres and am never afraid to try my hand at something new.As a game designer, I've spent a lot of time in spreadsheets and documentation, tuning and balancing stats and abilities for tons of characters at once, and studying other games to learn how they work to help improve my own designs. I'm also particularly interested in different ways to document information for teams. I've tried traditional documentation styles, more visual documents in the form of slide shows that focus more on mockups and less on a lot of text, and have also tried website-styled design documentations. Different people respond better to different types of communication so I think it's interesting to see which approach is better for which people, and find new ways to get other people on the team to read and understand the design. In my spare time, I like to prototype different game ideas. In the past, I've spent time working on grid based tactics games primarily, but sometimes when I have a new idea, I like to try actually making a rough version of it to see where it goes. I feel that a lot of the time, an idea can only go so far on paper and I need to get it playable in some way to really get a sense for it.
