• Developed systems for calculating quality measures through Epic’s SQLServerbased data warehouse.• Designed an implemented infrastructure to add clinical data to quality measurecalculations. Spearheaded performance improvements that allow fullyearquality measure calculations to be 3X faster despite the addition ofover a billion of rows of extra data to process. Code was used as the templatefor the data-gathering system of a new Value-Based Performanceproduct.• Headed major reconstruction data-gathering infrastructure under tight timelinesto account for major datamodel changes in Epic’s data warehouse. Endresult was a seamless transition for both customers and measure developers.• Developed for Epic Predictive Analytics, developing both infrastructure andmodels.• Implemented functionality that allowed population-health predictive modelsto retrieve categorized diagnosis data 100X faster when there were manycategories. This gave model developers the ability to develop more sophisticatedpredictive models that could run directly within Epic.• Evaluated a Hadoop, Spark, Hive and Jupyter notebook test system for itssuitability for developing predictive models.• Analyzed and proposed changed to Epic’s first-generation No Show modelunder tight timelines that improved model performance

Included acomputer vision component to automatically classify documents by revisionand intelligently auto-redacting known sensitive areas of the documents.Saved from searching about 10,000 documents for records scanned upsidedownby automatically fixing them.• Created a rule-based system to allow defining whether a group of birth defectcodes represent a single birth defect, a multiple birth defect, or a syndrome.Technical aspects included image analysis, document classification, database linkage and the creation of a domain-specific language. Usability was also an important concern.
