Sirris is the collective research centre of the Belgian technological industry. We help companies in the implementation of technological innovations, enabling them to strengthen their competitive position over the long-term. Our experts visit companies on site, offer them technological advice, launch innovation paths, and provide guidance until they reach the implementation phase. It is our aim to find concrete solutions to the real challenges facing Belgian entrepreneurs.The world is in full transition. Environmental impacts, regulations, access to and cost of materials, and evolving customer needs are driving our economies towards a more circular approach and long term strategies. Obviously, the way we use and reuse materials and preserve their value, plays a crucial role in this circular transition. A transition that is also strongly linked to challenges like climate change or access to fresh water. Which “circular” steps should my company take now, which later in the years to come? How can we define a circular strategy and action plan, adapted to our context and value chain(s)? Which are the opportunities for my company in a circular economy? How can we take action, and implement concepts like re-use, remanufacturing, recycling, new business models etc?Obviously, this transition requires (new) technologic knowledge about materials, their performance, processing, life cycle impacts. It also involves other competences like life cycle thinking, ecodesign, new value chain collaboration, business model rethinking, etc.. In other words: innovation!Helping companies to realise innovation is the core business of Sirris, the collective centre of the Belgian technological industry. In order to support the innovation in circular economy, Sirris created a dedicated team to support companies in their ‘circular’ endeavours. In this team, we bring together all the main competences needed to support circular innovation in an industrial context. Besides the materials expertise present in the team, we also bridge to other enabling technologies or capabilities at Sirris or in our network.
