Worked on old-timey minicomputers, networking and PCs. Seriously, some of the computer systems we installed ran on whale oil and needed a hand crank to start them. But we kept everything running, modern and connected, mostly by spending a good part of the day stringing new network and terminal wires through the drop ceilings.

Spent a summer at California's greatest seaside amusement park installing phone systems, making sure the music, sound effects and animatronics kept working on all of the rides, and doing sound and lighting (keeping warm next to the big old incandescent follow spot) for the premiere season of Friday Night Bands on the Beach (which included Bo Diddley, The Drifters, The Coasters, The Platters, The Surfaris, Freddy Cannon, The Shirelles, The Persuasions, Pride and Joy, Zasu Pitts Memorial Orchestra, Skip Ewing, a new country singer who immediately regretted his choice to do a free concert on the beach in California, and a local singer (I kind of remember it being Ginny Mitchell) who stepped in at the last minute to replace Mary Wells, when she cancelled the day of the show.)FYI- from my experience running and repairing wiring that ran the length of the park, the song "Under the Boardwalk" is a complete lie. They never mention crawling around in the sand on your belly, way too many spiders, or that those convenient foot washes drain out directly onto your head if you're in the wrong place when someone starts rinsing.
