Here are some key achievements from this role: ☑ Led engineering efforts to create a mission-critical index file delivery system and search engine for eBay. ☑ Directed local and remote teams in India to design, code, and integrate the Data Distribution System into the index search grid. ☑ Employed BitTorrent and daisy chain protocols to efficiently transfer extensive 70GB indexes to over 15,000 hosts in the search grid every 6 hours, optimizing resource usage. ☑ Optimized eBay's proprietary scheduling engine for distributing 40MB-100MB-sized index files to 15,000+ hosts every 30 seconds and implemented a reconciliation system for missing files. ☑ Significantly improved user search results, reducing index distribution times from five minutes to less than 10 seconds for the 95th percentile through integrating the Kafka pub/sub messaging system.

☑ Worked on bringing up MontaVista Linux on the Itasca line card for the Catalyst 6500 series switch. This involved compiling the Linux kernel for the target architecture, using a Cisco proprietary boot loader to load the image, and modifying kernel initialization code to conform to the line card specification.☑ Developed a compact flash driver for Linux on the Itasca board. A Linux block device driver framework was built first, and the read/write functionalities were written after consulting the hardware specification document.☑ Developed a Linux driver for a Kineret FPGA, which facilitated packet transfer between the Hawea daughter card and the Itasca base board. Worked with FPGA developers to resolve hardware bugs, as well as with the board manufacturers to resolve IRQ line errors.
