The MissionTRD USA is a 250 associate motorsports engineering company and wholly-owned Toyota subsidiary serving Toyota’s Marketing Division. Partnered with two similar companies in Europe and Japan, this Toyota Motorsport triad provides a three -pointed global engagement platform to facilitate the OEM’s participation in motorsports. The mission of TRD is to provide technical assistance to Toyota-sponsored race teams as a means of sponsorship, and to simultaneously showcase Toyota’s technical excellence. Primary focus during this period was the provision of NASCAR racing engines and chassis technology to Toyota-sponsored NASCAR racing teams. My PartBoard level reporting. Innovation. The Mission SP was a 30 associate crankshaft manufacturing and design company making the world’s highest quality crankshafts for the racing, automotive and aviation markets. It was founded in May 2004 by Pete Spence (CEO) and Gerold Pankl, an Austrian investor with a long successful pedigree in manufacturing for racing and automotive. The company served the Formula 1, NASCAR, WEC (LeMans), MotoGP, IndyCar, DTM, and WRC race Series among others. My Part Built and ran the company on a daily basis. Held accountability for business plan development, financial administration, staffing, sales, customer support, operations management, supply chain, product design, and quality management. Designed and oversaw the construction of a state-of-art LEAN manufacturing facility. Researched, negotiated and procured all equipment.Recruited, trained, and cross-trained 30 engineers, technicians and operators.Developed a standardized manufacturing process that reduced production tolerances and eliminated typical manufacturing flaws that had previously caused in-service failure.Drove Continuous Improvement projects aimed at increasing profitability, reducing leadtime, reducing scrap and rework, reducing waste.What Did We Achieve Succeeded in manufacturing the highest quality racing crankshafts in the world.Served THE most demanding customers in THE most competitive environment with super-high precision crankshaft manufacturing, while generating $8M revenue.Forced one competing company to exit the business and drove two others out of key markets.Successfully qualified for ISO 9000 certification.SP Crankshaft was purchased by Pankl Racing Systems in 2011
