My focus is on building deeptech ventures. I do this because these technologies are genuinely groundbreaking and when scaled correctly have a positive impact on major global challenges.I spent my early career working in technology/commercial roles with industrial corporates, including Danaher, Sims Metal Management and SCA, then latterly in technology development and systems engineering at my Dad's business, Stirling Dynamics, which sold via trade sale in 2018. I've built up a detailed understanding of early stage R&D technology development and a successful track record in raising both public funding and equity investment. My main focus of expertise lies in quantum, low carbon technology, aerospace and oil and gas, leading teams in hardware development, software, cloud processing, predictive analytics, IoT applications. I'm currently founder and CEO of STL Tech Ltd, focusing on rapid design iteration of deeptech research concepts through to scaled manufacturing and commercialisation. STL Tech also utilises its significant engineering and commercial/investment experience to support early stage innovators to deliver technology development programmes and access equity investment. STL is based in Science Creates, a science and engineering incubator in central Bristol that houses a range of deeptech start-ups.I've invested in a number of deeptech start-ups in the last few years and support some of these with STL's engineering experience and my commercial/investment expertise.I'm now bringing all of the above together to venture build deeptech start-ups, partnering with leading academics, RTO's and corporates to launch new ventures, an example of this being Delta g, a quantum gravity sensing start-up.Please do connect if you're interested in working or collaborating together.
