May helps students and professionals remain engaged in their chosen purpose. Her professional interests are in ways of navigating adjustment related stress. She is passionate about training and retaining a healthy health professional workforce in regional Australia. She is playing with the concept of 'workforce nurturance', a term she heard from Professor Alan Sandford. In 2020, May started PsychLab with the help of local psychology students. The purpose of PsychLab is to explore viable local business and training models that grow psychologists in the Wide Bay Burnett.May is involved in a number of professional interest groups and committees including the Australia and New Zealand chapter of the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science, and the Clinical Advisory Council to the local Primary Health Network. May completed her PhD on how experiential avoidance impacts the quality of life and fear of cancer recurrence in early breast cancer survivors living in regional Australia. When May is not working, she loves hanging out with her daughters. She can also be found writing Young Adult fantasy fiction, playing Dungeons and Dragons, reading fantasy novels on her sunny back deck, and being a dirty casual at Magic the Gathering pre-releases. She does not usually refer to herself in the third person.
