Jessica B. Schwartz PT, DPT, CSCS is a national spokeswoman for the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), Founder of Concussion Corner Academy, one of 2129 residency-trained doctors of physical therapy in the United States since 1999 at the time of residency in 2010, and a post-concussion syndrome survivor, advocate and concussion educator. After spending a full year in rehabilitation experiencing the profound dichotomy of both doctor and patient, Dr. Schwartz identified the gaps in concussion treatment and management in the global healthcare community. Her vision is to facilitate collective competence across the healthcare continuum in order to better identify, treat, and manage the concussion patient of today. She leads by encouraging learning from provider to provider, patient to provider, and caregiver to provider honing in on the power of storytelling from a place of candor, curiosity and enthusiasm.Dr. Schwartz utilizes her Concussion Corner Podcast encouraging #FOAMed (Free Open Access Medical Education), teaching, and public speaking to educate clinicians about the multi-system nature of these injuries and the scopes of practices of the multidisciplinary providers that have access to and have the ability to care for this cohort of patient. By doing so, she hopes to facilitate better patient encounters and care for the concussion patient on an international level. Dr. Schwartz is also a member of the American Headache Society and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists. She holds certification and membership with the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a board-certified strength and conditioning specialist.
