Role and responsibilities:Promotion of use of jute in various applications and products in Northern India.Market research of products and statistical data collection, collation and analysis of major products in jute in Northern India.Interact with government institutions such as the textiles and environment ministries and other related ministries.Coordinate with other export councils, trade commissions/bodies and associations in India.In charge of New Delhi regional office for 12 years from 1992-2004 with various responsibilities including budgeting other financial responsibilities.The regional responsibilities include product development leading to using jute as raw material in the states of UP, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh administration.Involved in product development and marketing by development of adequate supply chain for manufacturers of products like floor coverings, decorative fabrics, composites and promotional bags. Contributed to creating an awareness in products from jute and sustaining the markets for jute products from the northern region of India as in charge of the New Delhi regional office of the Jute Manufactures Development Council.P T Srinath Page 5 of 7Achievements:Spread the use of jute yarn and fibre for use in diversified products in various areas in Northern India like Delhi, Jaipur/Jodhpur in Rajasthan, Panipat/Bhiwani in Haryana, Bhadoi/Mirzapur/Sitaput/Fatehpur Sikri in Uttar Pradesh, Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh.Organized various buyer-seller, seminars, trade fairs and workshops to promote Geo textiles, home furnishing, giftware, floor covering and other products in Northern India.Coordinated 'Jute India' an annually held international event in New Delhi since inception in 1997.Organized technical seminars, workshops for technical products of jute e.g. National Seminar on Jute Geo Textiles and Technical Textiles in New Delhi.
