Adrenaline Alley is Europe's largest BMX and skatepark and award winning social enterprise.The vision of Adrenaline Alley is to use urban sports to improve the lives of young people and the communities they live in. Based in Corby, Northamptonshire 'The Alley' boasts a unique combination of ramps, foam pits, outdoor dirt jumps, music and educational facilities. Occupying over 7 acres of land and 3 buildings the park is expertly managed by over 20 members of staff and currently has around 60,000 visitors a year making it Europe's leading BMX and skatepark.My role as trustee was to support and mentor and founder, Mandy Young - who continues to lead this award winning social enterprise - and contribute to strategic and business planning. In 2015 Adrenaline Alley purchased the freehold of the site - 7 acres of land (2.8 hectares) and 3 warehouses featuring over 100,000 square feet (9,300 square metres) of ramps.

My first foray into consulting after I'd accumulated over 10 years of working with and for charities and social enterprises in the UK. My broad range of skills at the time was underpinned with specific knowledge and experience. A Social Entrepreneur in Residence (SEiR) is an individual with entrepreneurial, marketing and business expertise who is embedded in a public institution such as primary care trust (PCT), a GP consortium, local authority or voluntary sector organisation.The purpose of the role was to identify potential entrepreneurs within the community and help them to develop their ideas to the point where they become successful ventures. The aim of the role, backed by a central team at the Young Foundation in London, was to identify opportunities, mobilise resources and to help finance and expertise for ventures from a range of sources. Themes included addressing major challenges such as health inequalities and an ageing population, while also acting as a catalyst who works to achieve a cultural change so that innovation becomes part of an organisation's ethos not a barrier to success.

Project Manager for a national social enterprise campaign 'Make Your Mark: Change Lives that involved co-ordinating a network of national strategic partners from the 3rd Sector, education, public and private sectors including the Social Enterprise Coalition, Office of the Third Sector, Department of Health, Regional Development Agencies.The role involved being responsible for planning and successful delivery of Social Enterprise Day – developing signature activities, ensuring high quality marketing collateral, co-ordination of ministerial and Social Enterprise Ambassador engagement, developing media and communications plan with strategic partners.
