Puneet believes Policy Advocacy has evolved significantly over last one decade. From merely being a “one dimensional” liaison engagement to create “enabling environment”, the ever increasing role of the Government, esp. since the economic downturn of 2008, is now that of “Partner” than just a facilitator. It requires a deeper understanding of the interplay between empowered stakeholders and develop a macro level perspective for an equitable goal. Needless to say one needs different set of qualifications in order to play along such evolving dynamics. Puneet always felt govt. affairs to be a role of creating partnership. It helped him develop a niche to create larger context for key stakeholders buy in. Most of his first hand experience is largely due to opportunity of setting up this function in several organizations almost as a “one man army”. Starting with Wipro (10 years) that provided him with a platform to define this role under the mentorship of Mr. Azim Premji, Mr. Suresh Senapaty, and likes of Mr. P M Sinha, Puneet went on creating policy stewardship for Royal DSM (2.5 years), Mondelez (2.5 years) to Monsanto and now at Accenture. His engagement over the years helped him develop new frameworks around such Policy of Defence Offset; SEZ; Renewable Energy; Healthcare; Biotechnology & Agriculture to name a few. Dealing with such wide array of subjects confirms his belief of an underlying “Uniformity” between “Corporate-Government” interplay to create value proposition only with varying degree of execution. Before moving to corporate role, Physicist turned Journalist, Puneet, pursued career in active media. He wrote extensively on policy issues and gained good traction with government.
