My roles here have encompassed Leading a Civil and Structural design and detailing team in both design and supervision which continues to be a passion for me.At Alphajiri Engineering, I have been part of a team that has designed and managed the construction of high rise and low-rise projects including residential buildings, commercial buildings, associated roadworks, water storage and drainage works. Our heavy utility soft wares have included Excel Spreadsheets, Revit, Robot, Master Series, AutoCAD, STAAD-Pro, Civil 3D, Draft sight, and Sketchup. Other responsibilities that I undertake in this role include;1. Structural audits - Together with my team I have delivered TOTAL Kenya structural audits in over 15 stations ahead of solar panel installations2. Working on necessary city council, NEMA and NCA approvals as per required procedures.3. Preparing, delivering and adjustment of Bill of Quantities for both preliminary estimates and on-going projects.4. Organizing for technical presentations, assistance and acquisition of specialized products in construction building materials for clients5. Working on Gantt charts and other reporting soft-wares for on-going projects in both planning for the projects and implementation.5. Client support through technical advising, design and implementation meetings.6. Planning for Geo-technical investigations for sites before design.7. Meeting with the construction teams to discuss project implementation details before major works.8. Attending site meetings and visits on a bi-weekly basis to check on progress and implementing changes for construct-ability and client satisfaction

The first time I met Brad, I thought that there never was a more kindhearted and giving person. Then I heard about the life-changing work that he had begun in my village through Imani Kenya. Having begun with a single brilliant high school student in 2014 (now a Kenyatta University graduate), Imani Kenya has grown to add and match students with sponsors every year since. Imani Kenya has a beautiful story that began in a hospital room and today is at a position where it matches disadvantaged, bright and deserving graduating 8th Grade students in Kenya with caring sponsors who commit to sponsoring their students through high school, and even college. Imani Kenya goes an extra step to provide local mentors such as myself in Kenya for each sponsored student. “Show me a successful individual and I’ll show you someone who had real positive influences in his or her life. I don’t care what you do for a living—if you do it well I’m sure there was someone cheering you on or showing the way. A mentor.”In addition to all this, we have undertaken water and coffee farming/business projects to empower an entire community to transform its economy so that those families can send their own young people on to higher education.

Being a part of a close knit design and supervision team allowed me the chance to deliver in design, quality control, supervision and auditing for both civil and structural projects. Under his guidance we;  Attended pre-bid site visits and meetings for clarifications  Estimated quantities and cost of materials, equipment and labor to determine project feasibility. Carried out site investigations for collection of information required in tendering and planning for the projects  Handled communication with clients, employers and joint venture partners, negotiating with suppliers and sub-contractors on behalf of the company Prepared tender documents and procured tenders  Carried out small-scale accounting for the company office Conducted site visits and prepared project updates Prepared and edited project reports, specifications, plans,  Carried out the process acquisition of permits and designs.
