About Jacinta Caraher

I am the CEO and Director of Sustainable Fashion at Purple Peach https://purplepeach.ie/ and one of Ireland’s leading fashion designers. I specialise in contemporary bridal wear and bespoke event wear. I have received numerous awards for my couture designs over the years and my mentoring of female entrepreneurs. I am particularly interested in promoting high end sustainable couture at economical price points to shift consumer habits in Europe. Most recently (2023) I was featured in Ireland AM (Ireland’s leading morning show) for my exquisite sustainable designer collection and in particular the stunning banana fibre trousers () and beautiful Limerick lace blouse. In addition to my contemporary design collection I have also been fortunate to be commissioned as lead period costume designer. A recent example is the movie “The Wilde Sisters” due for release in June 2024 and telling the stories of the half sisters of the famous writer, Oscar Wilde.My inspiration can be traced to pre Raphaelite art and the etherial, romanticism of the era. Closer to Ireland, I am a huge proponent of Irish textiles and the unique creativity and versatility to be seen for example in Irish lace and Irish linen. I have given many talks on achieving success in fashion alongside reducing the carbon footprint of the fashion industry.     Creating social media content for Instagram and Facebook as well as developing a newWordPress website for the practice.• Design, pattern draft, toile and create bespoke bridal and fashion collections.• Head of Marketing, administration, HR.• Liaise with various clients and suppliers in person and online.• Approached by the fashion editor of the Irish Independent to collaborate on a photoshoot in theCastle Leslie Estate. Purple Peach gowns were used in this shoot.• In collaboration with a group of wedding suppliers, created a high end Photobook to be usedby Slane Castle for their promotional campaigns. Purple Peach gowns were photographed andused in this campaign.• Worked with a local craftsperson to create a bespoke, hand made piece which was thenchosen to represent County Monaghan in an installation at Dublin Castle.• Spoken at events and at various courses on the topic of sustainable shopping choices andcircular economy in the Fashion Industry.• Taught in secondary schools as a guest teacher on the topic of fashion, textiles and creativedesign.

    Established a Cookery school ‘The Honest Pantry’, teaching healthy eating/cooking to childrenand adults.• Manage a freelance catering service.• Frequent pop-up pizza restaurant for local pubs and for local events catering for over 70people at a time. One of the bigger events included a marquee wedding.• Joined forces with Geroid Lynch of The Old Post Inn - to host a 5-star marquee restaurant forCombi Lift. It was held on site at the factory and accommodated international clients. Thisevent catered for 200 people every day for 14 days and 5 courses each time.• Regular catering provided for the Jackson estate when hosting European visitors.
