His undergraduate thesis, titled "The Protection of Indigenous Peoples Whose Homelands are Separated by International Borders: A Study on Practices in the United States of America, Norway, and Indonesia," showcases his keen interest in human rights, particularly the rights of Indigenous Peoples. This interest was further deepened by his experience living with the Indigenous Dayak Iban community along the Indonesia-Malaysia border.Beyond his focus on Indigenous rights, Putra is passionate about disability empowerment, inclusive education, equal rights, and environmental advocacy. He advocated for more inclusive participation of marginalized youth during his tenure managing YSEALI. He is also an alumnus of the prestigious Kennedy Lugar - Youth Exchange and Study (KL-YES) program, which he attended in 2006-2007. During this time, he spent a year at an American high school, living with an American family, and working to build stronger cultural understanding between the United States and countries with significant Muslim populations, particularly in the post-9/11 context.Putra remains dedicated to working with young leaders and emerging voices across Indonesia, with the aspiration that leadership program opportunities become more accessible to all youth throughout the country.
