Putra Aditya is currently working as an independent consultant, focusing on youth development and empowerment projects. His efforts are deeply rooted in a commitment to social justice, inclusion, and overall development. He recently transitioned from his role as the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) Program Coordinator for Indonesia, where he oversaw a variety of YSEALI programs, including Fellowships and Exchanges (both Academic and Professional), Regional Workshops, the Seeds for the Future Annual Grant Competition, and other initiatives aimed at fostering connections among and empowering young leaders across the nation.Putra began his career with the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta in January 2016 as the Assistant Alumni Coordinator, where he played a crucial role in nurturing the YSEALI program from its early stages. Before joining the Public Affairs Section at the Embassy, he spent more than three years working at @america, the U.S. Embassy’s high-tech cultural center in Jakarta, serving as an e-guide and public engagement representative.He holds a bachelor's degree in law from the Faculty of Law at Universitas Indonesia, specializing in Law on Transnational Relations. His undergraduate thesis, titled "The Protection of Indigenous Peoples Whose Homelands are Separated by International Borders: A Study on Practices in the United States of America, Norway, and Indonesia," showcases his keen interest in human rights, particularly the rights of Indigenous Peoples. This interest was further deepened by his experience living with the Indigenous Dayak Iban community along the Indonesia-Malaysia border.Beyond his focus on Indigenous rights, Putra is passionate about disability empowerment, inclusive education, equal rights, and environmental advocacy. He advocated for more inclusive participation of marginalized youth during his tenure managing YSEALI. He is also an alumnus of the prestigious Kennedy Lugar - Youth Exchange and Study (KL-YES) program, which he attended in 2006-2007. During this time, he spent a year at an American high school, living with an American family, and working to build stronger cultural understanding between the United States and countries with significant Muslim populations, particularly in the post-9/11 context.Putra remains dedicated to working with young leaders and emerging voices across Indonesia, with the aspiration that leadership program opportunities become more accessible to all youth throughout the country.
