Key Results:-Maintain software on 300+ PLC’s, 150+ HMI’s in 3 different departments modifying code as required for new product lines, machine revisions and improvements.-Designed and programmed a Microcontroller circuit that reduces DVD half product rejects by 2% = cost reduction > $100.000 / Yr @ 116 units costing $200-Converted Offset and Screen Printing equipment on 18 machines of several different generations to utilize new barcode and print quality inspection equipment because the OEM installed equipment was no longer working or supported. This work consisted of reprogramming the PLC, rewiring and mechanical installation. -Modified PLC and HMI software 100+ DVD production systems to prevent them from continuing to cycle while making rejects. Our operators have many different tasks to perform and many machines to tend to some reject conditions were detected by the machine but continuous rejects had to be detected by an operator, a lot cost was saved by stopping equipment automatically and displaying an alarm.-Changed programming of about 100 pieces of equipment to ignore a certain not so significant error causing a disc to be dropped if it only occurs only one or two times in a row because the downtime associated with this error was causing more cost than the stopping production for a single occurrence. Uptime is greatly improved.-Was mechanical and software engineer as part of a team of 7 that built and designed the first automated line to manufacture DVD’s.-Developed a process to generate Pit Art process to use to label DVD discs instead of printing them. This generates a new look and greatly reduces disc cost.-Was significant contributor in the following US Patents: 5958651, 5932042, 5940174, 6309496, 6154275-Play a major role in daily diagnostics and repairs of production equipment in 3 different departments (Molding, Printing and Finishing)
