Its much massive scale of responsibility that i ever exposed earlier. Having to manage a team of UX system managers together with concept designers to drive superior user experience in next generation BSS solution suite. The challenge was to first design and demo a concept to leadership team the horizon of UX to aim for in the next generation system. It doesn't stop there. We also did propose the architectural base that is required to realize this target in most efficient and future proof way.This mix of UX and technology/architecture is the challenge that I liked and enjoyed the most. As a Chief architect for a suite of 25+ products, its quite challenging to plan, build anatomy of execution and convincing stakeholders in executing upon the plans with the budget and resources available. I am still enjoying the journey where we have taken the concept into execution now.

As a Head of Technology and System Management, I report to Head of Design Center Chennai with regards to complete technical governance of various BSS systems handled within Chennai. All Chief Architects and Systems Experts working different Systems report to me in this regard. Responsible for Technical Governance of Systems where Chennai is e2e responsible with regards to day to day operations and their R&D releases to market. Evolve Systems into future in line with Business Unit Strategies with regard to architectures and technologies. Continuous improvement of technical competence within Chennai and groom next level technical leaders. Being a people manager other responsibilities include competence development, performance reviews and salary determination.Strengthened the Technology and System Management Community with Strong Technical leaders in the organization. Created System Experts where needed to address niche implementation bottlenecks and to evolve Software Craftsmanship across organization. Organized ‘Gyan’ program where I brought 30+ technical leaders of the organization from various units together to meet up and discuss on regular basis on various technology/domain specific topics with assessment at the end to understand the potential learning attitude of people as part of identifying next level technical leaders in the organization. Evolved concept of ‘Business Studio’ along with our product management and demoed a full e2e working model of launching a utility charging use-case which was very well appreciated. Groomed an innovation idea of ‘Self-healing systems’ towards proof of concept in conjunction with product management.

Charging and Policy access is a layer in Ericsson charging system that gives the charging & policy control to the core network elements like SGSN, GGSN, EPG etc. There are two systems namely OCC & CCN that gives access control via SS7 & Diameter interfaces. Analytics and Reporting functions are being realized in two different nodes within the product portfolio. Analytics deals with customer centric analysis whereas reporting provided the financial and audit reports in a charging (pre-paid) system.Technical Manager for the node deriving the node development planMain objective is to bring both these functions under one umbrella and possibly be able to co-locate then on the same system

MINSAT is a subscriber provisioning tool in the prepaid charging system area. This client is used worldwide by the telecom customer care operators for provisioning new subscribers as well as managing the existing by subscribing new services etc. Apart from that it also does the batch operations.Played various roles as belowTechnical Manager for the node deriving the node development plans and evolving system architecture as per the future market needs.Tech lead for the ongoing correction package and the LCM of MINSAT including HWPart of SAT team in doing quick studies, technical reports, RS and the proposals

Pre-Paid Service Logic (PSL) is pre-paid application hosted on Ericsson INS/TSP platform and widely deployed in GSM, CDMA, TDMA networks. PSL acts as SCP in an SS7 network which communicates with SSP using INAP. PSL is invoked by SSP when a mobile originated/terminated/forwarded call is performed by a pre-paid subscriber. PSL also has communication interfaces towards SDP using CIP (Charging Interrogation Protocol)I am in PSL R&D responsible for evolving the functionality as per the requirement backlog from product management as well as work on market originated customization requirements.

Video Gateway System (ViG) and IP Telephony (IPT) is an ERICSSON IP Telephony product is used by wide range of customer’s worldwide. IPT product supports only voice over IP which has very few installations but ViG supports media negotiation too. Communication between all the sub nodes are according to the H.323 standards defined in ITU-T 1.0 standards. ViG enables users to make calls with any access type to any access type like H.323PC, SIP PC, 3G mobile, PSTN phone etc. Most of the Ericsson customer’s integrated their existing 3G network with ViG network to provide VoIP services to their end subscribers. ViG also offers Voice Mail, SIP Video Mail, DTMF services like IVR, CUG etc.Module lead for Terminal Agent (SIP & H.323) team of 3, I did the code reviews of bug fixes, conducting release audits, providing support in the complicated issues to the team. Developed tools for simulating SIP clients to support H.263, H.264 and AMR-WB codec’s. Developed NAT proxy (Session Border Controller) simulator used for modifying VIG to be able to work with third-party NAT proxies. Developed Presence Server simulator for developing presence interface for VIG. Developed IMPS client and IMPS server based on OMA CSP1.2/1.3 specifications. Developed an XMPP client based on JFC XMPP protocol and Jingle extensions which enables text chat, multimedia communication possible with any XMPP server like Google Talk. Made a demo to the customers with the setup which enables multimedia calls possible between 3G mobiles and Google Talk clients through ViG network. Developed SIP SIMPLE server based on different RFC’s. Developed a SIP-XMPP gateway server which can communicate with ViG in SIP and with Google Talk server in XMPP. This feature will be further enhanced to support other GAMEY third party servers like Skype, AOL, Yahoo and MSN.

Developed an online web based application which is similar to Microsoft outlook. The features enable the user to send information across the organization, creating groups and composing messages. This site hosts technical documents, references, useful information for project execution, work plans for individual’s tasks and facility to upload review comments, technical discussion board etc. This was achieved using JAVA, JSP, HTML, Java Script, Servlets, Dream weaver, SQL and Oracle 8i.Developed server side functionality using Servlets for the corresponding HTML pages. A major functionality was attained using Java script for client side validations. Servlets are designed using Three-tire architecture for easy debugging and ease in adding new functionality. Introduced a discussion form and tech forum for the employees. Designed database schema for the entire application by providing the convenience of adding new modules without much effort

Developed mobile applications and enhancing the Everypath Mobile Application Platform by plugging in the new features. Maintaining the existing wireless applications running at the collocated servers during the market peak time. Developing new mobile application according to the requirements. Developing the customer demo applications for different handsets and plugging in the features those are only possible by using Everypath technologyWireless applications: Developed mobile applications on Palm, PDA, Pocket PC, Smart phone and RIM devices for http://www.alaskaair.com, www.salesforce.com, www.americawest.com, www.ertade.com (E*TRADE) and www.fidelity.com using Everypath mobile design studio. J2ME applications: Developed Java based wireless application for NTT DoCoMo, a leading telecom service provider in Japan. Functionality is attained using J2me wireless toolkit, JAVA, J2me Emulators. Everypath Stress Testing Tool: This is a servlet developed for running functional and stress tests for the mobile applications. This takes parameters as the number of concurrent sessions, test scripts location, repetition count and stores the resultant pages in the destination directory.Everypath Mobile Design Studio: This is a studio to develop the mobile applications for various devices. This involves identifying the HTML pages, rendering the content and linking the screens, designing the UI and storing the complete design in XML format. Developed a module for displaying a panel which gets the application specific information from the database as well as from XML page. Bank of America: Bank of America is an online banking site where you can make online transactions, viewing account balances, transfers etc. An authenticated user can use all the above features. JAVA, JSP, Servlets and Oracle.
