This was around the time I remember the on-demand grocery delivery started exploding onto the streets of Berlin, and this start-up along with it. This meant quickly hitting the point where Excel sheets needed to become automated systems and user-friendly interfaces to scale operations across Europe.I joined as interim Engineering Manager to quickly help build up fleet management capabilities, afterwards shifting between Fullstack and DevOps engineering roles while helping onboard and coach the growing teams.- Launched the fleet-management system, handling operations and repairs for the fleet of 10k bikes.- Joined a newly formed team to build up rider engagement, architecting the push-notification delivery infrastructure and rider statistics.- I helped make our team a close collaborator with the platform engineers, making us the first to migrate our services from monolithic IaC to be defined per-repo using ConfigConnector and ArgoCD.- In the last months drove product research and roadmap in the team, incorporating ideas from Shape Up into our processes and having a blast.Tech: Golang, TypeScript, React, Microfrontend, Postgraphile, Postgres, Android, Kotlin, GCP

This company operates a large fleet of vehicles for rental to businesses and individuals, and of course also had plans to grow this fleet aggressively. My time here was split into two major chunks, building a self-service booking platform for the fleet, and later shifting to tech lead for an existing team targeting Risk and Master Data Management.- Built a online booking platform, primarily setting the foundations for the frontend and introducing modern design processes and tooling to reduce iteration time with the stakeholders. - The MVP of the platform was completed in the three months allotted, and immediately used to book more than 2200 vehicles (25% of the total fleet).- As tech lead, I helped design and build new integrations for Risk management but my biggest impact was coaching and mentoring the developers in the team. This helped improve the development processes, and decreased tech debt to move faster.- What started as a small side-project grew into introducing a shared SSO and IAM layer using the company IdP rather of having per-application authentication.Tech: React, TypeScript, Python, FastAPI, Postgres, IBM DB2 (pain), OIDC, Pomerium

The vendor provides a suite of tools for business process management, helping companies model their internal process in order to find areas of improvement. The plan was to include a new Customer Journey Mapping (CJM) component, deeply integrated into the existing suite.* We realised this as a small skunkworks project consisting of senior engineers and designers. * Alongside the integration into the existing suite, User Experience was the largest concern.* My biggest contribution was working together with our designer to carefully iterate on the interface and shape it based on feedback we collected. With only a month to ship build a mobile app to showcase the capabilities of the in-house IoT platform in time for an Expo, this time proved to be equal parts hectic and exciting from the start. My role was to act as tech load, most importantly bridging our team to the platform architects and setting the overall structure but also driving the implementation of the Android client in React Native.* Built an application to architectural drawings of multi-story buildings, with overlays to debug and control installed IoT devices* We managed in time, after I learned more about cross-platform SVG Rendering quirks than I ever expected.Tech: React Native, React, JavaScript, Android, Java, GraphQL

I joined the team maintaining data pipelines making it possible to analyse the results of ongoing marketing campaigns. The pipelines had been built quickly to act as an MVP, and my main task was iterating and working closely with the analysts to take the platform to a more lovable state.- Refactoring the pipelines to split scheduling and ETL in the Apache Airflow jobs, including leveraging other technologies where it made sense. For example using Cloud Dataflow (Apache Beam) to decrease the runtime of a job from hours to 20 minutes.- Migrated all jobs and tools used from Python2 to 3, fun!- Improved data quality by writing tests, documentation and structuring the BigQuery data warehouse.Tech: Python, Apache Airflow, Apache Beam, Google Dataflow, BigQuery, Google Cloud Platform, Prometheus, Grafana

This was a fun year, I initially joined as a full-stack developer for a service migration. With the team being small but passionate, a lot of my effort afterwards went into simplifying the service architecture for future maintainability, helping overcome hurdles to adopting new tech (React, Docker, Kubernetes), with some memorable mob-programming sessions in the process. - Decoupled data access for the streaming services and mobile apps via a common API to reduce duplication- Leveraging the common API to improve the user experience for the editors. Building a CMS tailored to the content and usage in close collaboration, ultimately helping them make changes faster with fewer mistakes.- Iterated on the quality of Search Results by configuring ElasticSearch, and to validate the results built an end-to-end AB-testing pipeline from the Varnish Cache through the services into Google Optimize.- Dockerized and lifted services from running on VMs to Kubernetes in the on-prem cluster.Tech: Ruby on Rails, React, JavaScript, ElasticSearch, Kubernetes, Rancher

Lunicore is a boutique consulting firm run by students of Lund University. I joined as a full-stack developer during my studies, and later stepped up to the management team to support the projects in the IT domain, manage customer relationships and iterate on the service offering.Some highlights include:- Building a SaaS tool for a local municipality to help match people with long-term unemployment to potential jobs. (Ruby on Rails)- Creating a tool for choreographers to plan and synchronise the movements of large amounts of dancers in a flash mob. (Ruby on Rails, Android)- Researching and later implementing an MVP to help users facing difficulties with digital interfaces due to age or disabilities to connect with their families and caregivers.
