I completed my training as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in Aug 2013. The program I attend was a military developed program that trained soldiers on what was normally a 2 year program condensed into 8 months. My initial training was conducted at Joint Base San Antonio, TX. Here I learned the classroom aspect of the job attending class 5 days a week for 9 to 10 hours a day over 16 weeks. Upon completion of the didactic portion I was clinically trained a Walter Reed Navy Regional Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. I treated patients with all types of complex injuries form spinal cord injuries to quadruple amputees. I graduated the program and was stationed at General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital in Ft. Leonard Wood, MO. Here I would treat patients in an outpatient rehabilitation setting, inpatient rehab, traumatic brain injury rehabilitation clinic as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant. In this position, I supervised and managed an occupational therapy and chiropractic clinic that sees over 5000 patients. I was the chief logistic operator for the clinic and manage a yearly budget of 2 million dollars. I was responsible for coordinating with medical reps and manufactures to secure the best equipment with in our budget yearly. In my time at Ft. Leonard Wood, I would train students annually, complete my duties as a Non-Commissioned Officer in the Army as well as complete my Bachelor Degree. I completed 8 years of service and was medical retired due to injuries sustained while in service.

Over a period of eight years I strived to be the best soldier I could be. I started from the very bottom of the military ranks and rose quickly during my short time. I started my military career as a Combat medic and completed my training at Ft. Sam Houston, San Antonio TX. After completion of my school I was Stationed at Ft. Lewis, WA. I quickly deployed to Iraq and spent 5 months there, during this time I was a line medic for the 1-37th Field Artillery unit with the 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division. My responsibilities were to protect and save the lives of the members of my team, no more no less. Upon return of my deployment to Iraq I served at the battalion aid station and attend to the medical needs of all the solider in the battalion, trained soldier in combat lifesaving techniques as well as kept up on my own skills for future deployments. In 2012, I deployed to Afghanistan as the senior line Medic for 9 months and was attached to the transportation company. There I served as the personal security detachment medic to the First Sargent. I would accompany the First Sargent on all mission as well as training for over 400 soldiers with in the battalion. I was responsible for the training and success of all junior medics and the soldiers they were assigned to serve. I was responsible for the restock and equipment worth over 10 million dollars, and completed over 170 missions during our 9 months.
