In Jan 2015 I was invited to become a community governor of Hawkwood Group of PRU Schools in Waltham Forest I have visited and attended my first meeting in Feb and have now joined the team. It looks great I am impressed with the teachers who face a daily struggle working with young people that are themselves struggling to come to terms with life. I am looking forward to contributing in any way I can to improve young peoples lives whilst also being mindful of the daily burden teachers face but from an outsiders view I can congratulate them on their progress and the rich rewards found in the progress the young people are making which at times those at the coal face dont see so onwards and upwards Burnside Secondary Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) was formed in September 2011 as a result of the amalgamation of the Burnside Key Stage 3 PRU, the local authority’s Key Stage 4 PRU and Forest Pathway College, which was part of Waltham Forest’s Alternative Provision for Year 11 students. It is overseen by the Executive Head of Waltham Forest’s Pupil Referral units and Alternative Provision The unit is led and managed by a Senior Associate Headteacher.At the Burnside School, the unit educates Key Stages 3 and 4 students who have been permanently excluded, or are at risk of permanent exclusion, from mainstream schools.very proud of three teachers who have been recommended for a bravery award from the Met Police

Enjoyed very much being a team member of an organisation that supported and shaped peoples lives.I was elected by residents to serve three 3xYear terms and elected by my fellow boardmembers to serve as Chair, we steered the CBHA through some difficult times, but we achieved charter mark status twice and investors in people twice during my watch.Ive lost count of the many groups and committees I sat on but I found the experience very satisfying as even at my advancing years I felt I could still learn at the great school of life whilst also paying my contributions along the way. In 2011 I was invited back to form a Residents Scrutiny Panel which I agreed to chair but on the understanding that we would chose a new chair after one year which we did I am now VChair and greatly enjoy the process of ensuring the CBHA continues to improve their services and residents homes and lives

This has been my hobby/voluntary role running along side my daytime employment greatly enjoyed the camaraderie found in the TA we were a Signals Squadron Air Support which meant we worked providing communications support to the RAF on airfields all over Europe and Cyprus finally Balklands Falcon, with 36 Sig Regt which saw every UK Signals TA Regt travel through Europe via various routes and complete a comms ex in Germany transfered to Herts ACF in 1985 transfered to UK Support Unit Bands & Corps of Drums Based Copthorne Barracks Shrewsbury retired 2014 I transferred to cadets in 1985 and found it most rewarding working with young people that actually paid to go to camp!! starting as a Detachment Commander receiving an above average commendation from the brigade commander on no less than six of the annual inspections for the ten years I was at the det.I then I worked my way through the company system ie DoE officer Sports officer Training officer 2/IC to finally Company Commander In 2004 I was seconded to Cadet Force Music a UK support unit to all Bands and Corps and Drums in Army, Navy, Marines and Air Force Cadet Units nationwide in the role of Training Major Drums then Adjutant, PMC, and finally as QM (tech) I retired in Nov 2014 this really was a very rich period of my life and I found many new friends which now hold a permanent place in my heart.

A/Project Manager on all aspects of capital works projects from new build to decent home refurbishment, decanted 4x22 story tower blocks on time and within budget also I might add with 100% satisfaction survey resultsfelt at the time the new procurement program would have worked if given the chance as it brought together everyone involved, the Resident, Contractor, Subcontractor, Supplier, Local Council Officer and it allowed all to see each others success and problems therefore all were much more understanding we also produced a residents route plan which planned the route of the project from inception to completion DLP and beyond receiving many commendations

as a member of the London Boro of Enfield housing professional services team my role was to deliver the governments decent homes projects across the borough including decants public information, resolve problems, including dispute resolution, across all phases of the decent homes project. Working with all council departments, lettings, project officers, contractors, sub-contractors, residents groups, and individuals, to ensure the works were completed on time, to budget, and with resident involvement and satisfaction.I believe I was successful as I received many commendations from heads of departments, contractors and most importantly residents.a most enjoyable time of my life

Trustee of WFHAT a 2 Million pound dowry to community development company ORegen which lasted approx. 2 years under the new management which went against all advice, So much so I reported to English Heritage certain irregularities which resulted in an investigation and closure of the businessSad because it started with such potential and support of residents but the management considered it self more corporate and spread its wings too far

A Housing Action Trust set up in 1991 by the government at a cost of approx. 240 million to address the needs of four inner city run down council estates with all the problems following the London and Liverpool riots to much to go into here but we succeeded I will come back and update this page when and if I retire and find time to write my memoirs needless to say this was a very rich period of my life
