Senior Manager in the Resources Industry X.0 Practice providing SH&E management, plant automation and operating strategy consulting services. Responsible for technology solutions implementations, as well operating model and systems assessment and improvement projects.

Primary responsibility of being a Region SH&E Manager is to partner with internal operations and develop proactive risk mitigation solutions to prevent injury, illness, property damage, and compliance incidents from occurring. Additional responsibilities of being a Region SH&E Manager include managing and reporting on SH&E performance for the Region; responding to, managing and investigating incidents; and supervision of direct-report SH&E Managers. Performance is achieved by developing and implementing a continuous improvement plan for complying with organizational SH&E policies and occupational health and safety legislation and developing a proactive culture of engagement with employees. SH&E Training Director responsibilities include developing and implementing a structured training program centered on compliance with occupational health and safety legislation, producing procedures and materials focused on identifying organizational training needs, and bringing consistency to the training materials developed and delivered. Primary purpose of implementing the training program is to orient training towards adult learning principles with training this is interactive, engaging, and provides employees with skills directly applicable to their job roles and responsibilities. Additional duties included the development and successful implementation of a behavior based safety process unique to the organization and developing a global network of trainers to bring consistency to SH&E programs and processes being utilized throughout AECOM.

Maintained two primary job functions during this period as a SH&E Manager. One function was supporting the SH&E Director for AECOM Environment (AE) in identifying organizational SH&E needs and developing programs, policies and processes to address these needs. Key to performing this role was the development of corporate SH&E policy and procedure and performing analysis of key SH&E program performance to further refine and improve existing programs. The second function was management of SH&E performance within the Northeast and Midwest/North Central Operating Regions of AE/ENSR Corporation. Primary responsibilities of this function were providing SH&E Leadership to the Regional Operations Management teams, supporting project SH&E needs, providing SH&E training to employees throughout the Regions, conducting root cause analyses of SH&E incidents, and performing trend analysis of regional SH&E data to indentify strong performance and areas of needed improvement.

Managed RETEC’s corporate subcontracting process and administered the corporate insurance policies. Through subcontract management and insurance policy implementation identified exposure to risk and determined if risks were acceptable to business practices and appropriate to delegate to subcontractors, or not appropriate for RETEC’s service areas. Subcontractors were managed to maintain compliance with service agreements in support of client projects and reduce liability assumed by RETEC. Authored a new vehicle operations policy and procedure that helped to increase driver safety awareness, and reduce incident rates and insurance premiums by identifying risks associated with corporate vehicle operations and delivering training to reduce at-risk driving behaviors. Also supported the corporate SH&E department in development and delivery of SH&E training.

Served as a Compliance Task Manager supporting a management program operating at 35 facilities in 24 states. Responsibilities included permit reviews, site auditing and inspection, data collection, report preparation and resolution of audit findings. Performed annual audits and inspections at 19 RCRA regulated facilities and provided required RCRA facility training to operational staff. Completed a comprehensive assessment of Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) compliance at 35 facilities to determine the applicability of the SPCC regulations. Assessment resulted in the identification of 14 facilities that required SPCC plans and assisted in developing plans in accordance with the 2004 Federal Regulations update. The work resulted in a decrease in the number of areas-of-concern identified by regulatory agencies as well as providing increased preparedness for spills and other environmental incidents.
