About Chris Pyatt

Clinical Scientist (Bioinformatics - Genomics) at Cambridge University Hospitals, having completed the Scientist Training Programme within the same department.PhD candidate at Quadram Institute Bioscience (formerly the Institute of Food Research), based in the National Collection of Yeast Cultures. I studied metabolic gene clusters in diverse yeast species, focusing on the development of computational methods for the discovery of such clusters from genome sequence data. These clusters have strong bioindustrial applications in numerous industries including food production, environmental remediation and the biomedical industries.I have participated in the iTeams programme at the UEA (an offshoot of the MIT/Cambridge programme). This involved taking a UEA invention/ product and investigating the commercial potential of that by identifying and contacting relevant academic and commercial parties. My team's product was an alternative model system for testing toxicity or antibiotic efficacy.I completed an integrated Masters in Biology from the University of Sheffield in 2014. My main research interests include phylogenetics, character evolution and ancestral character states; although I also have wider interests in Biodiversity, Palaeobiology, Developmental biology and other areas with emphasis on the similarities and differences between different lineages.

Listed skills include Biology, Research, Data Analysis, Spanish, and 28 others.
