Responsible for the effective development and implementation of strategies and processes that promote support and enhance both local business and visitor experience. In addition I have taken a leadership role in the development of the Council organisation following the merger in May 2016. Significantly overseeing all aspects of the Stronger Communities Fund, a $10 million funding provision from the state government. Ensuring strong community consultation, best practice and appropriate governance was achieved throughout the process.

Morwell

Responsible for identifying opportunities and facilitating the retention and expansion of existing businesses in the city. Additionally to create and promote business networks that encourage the exchange of ideas and develop cooperative approaches to new investment opportunities.

I was responsible for high quality grant applications and ensuring that Council’s opportunities to obtain external funding were maximised. Understanding the organisation’s priorities and seeking specific grant funding to match those priorities. Assisting in the development of partnerships and projects, undertaking research and project preparations to support grant applications. Developing a network within Local, State and Federal Government departments and other non-government bodies to maximise knowledge of available grants, the application guidelines and eligibility criteria.

As Transport Connections Facilitator I was responsible for developing a number of innovative projects aligning with the long term needs and goals of Baw Baw Shire Council under the umbrella of the Transport Connections Program. The Transport Connections Program (TCP) provides funding for local organisations to coordinate projects and initiatives that improve access to services and community life for those who experience transport disadvantage.

As Regional Broadband Coordinator I was providing regional stakeholder engagement, communication, facilitation and a referral services. Raising awareness of the progress of Government programs including the National Broadband Network (NBN) and the benefits of individual and organisational moves towards full engagement in the digital economy. Developing community profiles and engagement strategies as well as researching regional internet trends, service availability, issues and opportunities. Working across all sectors including community, business, industry, health, education, and all levels of government (local, state, and federal) with a significant focus upon community engagement.

Liaising with the Victorian State Government, Municipal Association of Victoria and all levels of Local Government. Researching solutions for line areas identified as priorities for Local Councils, coordinating submissions from ICT Solutions architects, software developers and telecommunications providers.

In my role as Visitor Services Coordinator I was responsible for the day to day running of Phillip Island Visitor Information Centres at Newhaven and Cowes. Both are accredited centres and look after the needs of over 150,000 visitors annually. My role incorporated all aspects of running the centres from developing policies and procedures and liaising with organisations such as Tourism Victoria, Tourism Alliance, Destination Phillip Island and the Phillip Island Tourism Association through to recruitment and training of the staff and Volunteers who work at the centres. Dealing with tourism in Victoria and in particular Phillip Island I came into daily contact with tourism operators from all aspects of the tourism industry, tours, accommodation, catering and events. I also had contact with visitors from a variety of countries and cultures traveling for many different reasons.As a result of my work in this roll I am a member of the Australian Tourism Accreditation Program, Victorian Committee of Management as well as a Business Mentor for the Victorian Tourism Awards.During late 2009 and into 2010 I took a leave of absence from this role to perform the role of Regional Broadband Project Officer.

My role included the implementation of a Quality Management System in accordance with the 1999 changes to operating licences. In addition I was responsible for formulating procedures satisfying the requirements of legislation regarding OH & S and Safety Management Systems. On a daily basis I was responsible for the organisation of the tours and activities offered by the company, co-ordinating staff and reservations to exceed customer expectations. In addition I was instrumental in the production of marketing material and tour development. Tour driver training also formed a major part of my job role.

England And Norway

Technical Manager for Aggregate Industries Northern Urban Plants and Halsvik Aggregates, Norway. Responsible for all technical aspects of 12 Asphalt plants throughout Northern England and a quarry installation in Norway producing for the German road industry and off shore oil pipeline and telecommunications cable laying.

During this secondment I was responsible for designing and installing technical and quality assurance procedures at a large quarry operation. In addition local staff were recruited and trained to perform these tasks. Quality audits performed by representatives of the German government and oil companies resulted in approval of the site to supply materials for road construction and laying of undersea oil pipelines.

Duties including the training and control of staff to perform routine testing at two quarries and two asphalt plants, dealing with customer requirements and product development.
