Under the technical supervision of WHO Provincial and Federal Team Leader as Provincial Disease Surveillance officer and the overall supervision of the WHO Representative, I was the focal point for surveillance activities in the assigned province and was responsible to undertake the following duties.1. Support district health authorities (DHO/EDO, EPI manager, District Surveillance Coordinator) in ensuring that there is a functional Disease surveillance system in place as per the national guidelines.2. Support preparation of detailed district surveillance work plans to be implemented by district Health authorities and partner staff.3. Regular review of surveillance sites (active and zero-reporting) and prioritize in light of the health-seeking behavior data. Ensure that the regular surveillance visits to reporting sites are undertaken by the surveillance staff as per the work plan.4. Ensure timely management of all VPDs/AFP and COVID/ILI/SARI cases (investigation, sample collection, and transportation, case classification).5. Organize and conduct a detailed epidemiological investigation.6. Facilitate that all data from VPDs/AFP cases and COVID/ILI/SARI cases are properly collected, line-listed, analyzed and interpreted for timely interventions.7. Monitor surveillance indicators, as well as the quality of surveillance data and the required actions, are taken.8. Assist in ensuring the inclusion of all high-risk/ underserved/ migrant populations as well as potential cluster hubs/hotspots in the Surveillance network.10. Ensure the sample collection and transportation as per the defined SOPs.11. Provide technical support in the integration of COVID response into existing surveillance structure, ad build capacity of government/partner staff for effective timely response.

Under the technical supervision of the WHO Provincial Team Leader and the overall supervision of the WHO Representative, as Divisional Surveillance Officer I was assigned for:AFP Surveillance with the aim to strengthen the already existing disease surveillance system especially for AFP with regular Workplan, data integration, and analysis for time-bound actions to curtail any suspected disease outbreak with the support of government and partner staff.Regular audit of data, field visits for support and investigation in case of a suspected outbreak and then planning for disease outbreak management as per agreed SoPs and guidelines.Supplemental Polio Vaccination Campaigns (SIA) with the provision of technical support to pre-campaign activities particularly planning, preparing, and monitoring the quality of area-level Micro-planning, at the union council, tehsil and districts levels along with monitoring of available human and material resources and provide the necessary support to augment them.Also to Monitor and supervise the work of all categories of health workers during the Implementation phase of the campaign and share the key observations and recommendations/action points with responsible authorities on daily basis to thoroughly analyze post-campaign independent monitoring data after every vaccination round.To help District Health Management Teams to prepare technical reports in line with the Provincial and National Emergency Action Plan and seek support from the public sector and NGO/Private sector as well.Assist in the various aspects to ensure development, maintenance, and monitoring of routine EPI, and participate in SIAs related to other EPI diseases.
