Dr Abbas is currently working as an Assistant Professor in School of Computing, Engineering and Physical Sciences and also an active member of Institute of Thin Films Sensors and Imaging (ITFSI) at University of The West of Scotland (UWS). Prior to joining UWS, he has been affiliated with some of the world's leading research institutes including Department of Physics, Durham University (England), Institute of Engineering and Energy Technologies (IEET), University of The West of Scotland (Scotland) and Research Institute of Science and Engineering (RISE), University of Sharjah (UAE) as postdoctoral researcher. He holds an MSc in Physics from University of The Punjab, Pakistan and MSc in Energy and Environmental Management from Glasgow Caledonian University, Glasgow United Kingdom, followed by PhD in Electrochemistry/Materials Science from University of The West of Scotland. His research area includes materials synthesis and their applicability in electrochemical energy storage and conversion systems such as Supercapacitors, Rechargeable batteries and Fuel cells. He has published in his field extensively in the form of Peer review research articles, book chapters, perspectives and editorials. He has also showcased his research in national/international conferences in number of countries including United Kingdom, United States, Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, United Arab Emirates, Thailand, Kazakhstan and Greece.
