In October 2020 I joined the Telford & Wrekin Highways Maintenance team as an external resource from Waterman Aspen.My responsibilities included:-Producing general arrangement drawings for New Town Estates in Telford (Sutton Hill, Brookside, etc) as these estates haven't been maintained properly for over 60 years.-Surveying the areas collecting data on council owned and adopted assets.-Updating the drawings with the information collected.-Address enquires from residents and local councillors.-Assist schedule development for the Footway programme by providing information that helped with prioritisation of schemes.While I was continuing my task in the background, my manager tried to expose me to as much sitework as possible, allowing me to gain valuable experience in Highways.I was involved in:-A442 DCM. -Overseeing project works on site.-Producing drawings for CW & FW schemes.-Producing Price estimates for CW & FW schemes.-Conducting ECIs with contractors. This allowed me to communicate more efficiently as I garnered a better understanding of how the contractors operated. -Reviewing works done.Having my own projects to move forward and assisting my seniors with their projects allowed me to distinguish between urgent and important tasks. Working on multiple projects simultaneously forced me to create an action plan day by day, accounting for whether I would be working from home or in the office, as being in the office meant I could tackle more difficult tasks as I had my seniors around me to assist me. I noticed that my days would get more enjoyable as I completed the tasks I had set out to.

Had the opportunity to interview a young student for a work experience position.• Was not afraid to ask for help when needed• Due to my relationship with the team, Amey provided me with a zero-hour contract so that I could work on weekends after my placement had ended.
