Chief Quality Officer (CQO) of a company that provides quality enhancement of individuals and organizations. Marketed and presented quality improvement seminars, consulting and training to local businesses including Requirements Management, Software Quality Management, Cost of Quality, Quality College and ISO-9000 auditing. Author of two QA Tips books (QATips.com). Served as a Judge for the 2009 California Team Excellence Award (CTEA) competition. As of Oct 2012, became a Business Counselor with SCORE in the Modesto area, suporting new or established busineses.

Initially organized & implemented Borland's CaliberRM at Delta Dental. Developed and presented training (over 500 class/students) for requirement engineering (RE) and writing test cases best practices as well as courses on Borland's CaliberRM and HP's Quality Center (QC). Performed as primary system administration of CaliberRM. Mentored multiple projects' team members on best practices, and tool (CaliberRM, QC) adoption. Member of the Delta's development tools integration council.

Provided quality project management services to various KP development projects using KP's Comprehensive Delivery Process (CDP). They included voice recognition systems (Pharmacy and Transcription), web portal, and Accts. Payable web ASP. Developed Quality & Test Strategy Plans, WBS/Project Plan, reviewed requirements, identified project risks, coordinated with functional testing team in development of Test Plan, testing activities and report. Also participated in development of Requirements Development & Management (RDM) requirements, processes and tool (CaliberRM- Borland's ALM (Application Lifecycle Management) Suite). This also included eliciting requirements via JAD sessions from fellow quality professionals. Presented training on Software Quality topics, Requirements Review process, Test Process Improvement (TPI) and CaliberRM operation to colleagues and project teams.

1st VP of Quality Management (QM) Countrywide Global (10/2001 - 3/2002)Led Countrywide Global Technology’s Quality Management group in development and implementation of enhanced Quality standards and processes for production of mortgage origination and servicing cycle software products. Improvement made in Global included: • Reorganized and doubled the QM staff size to 23, • Initiated expanded Configuration Management coverage and discipline to include all products from inception of code to delivery to end customer • Expanded QA coverage of products tested from 5 to 36, • Implemented Peer Reviews, • Implemented Entry/Exit criteria in the SDLC phases, • Initiated a Requirements Management Process including verification testing, • Improved detailed Test Plan (40 pages) and review process, • Expanded load and integration testing, • Developed and documented a formal SDLC utilizing a Six Sigma like process. These improvements provided for production scalability and improved quality of products for an international financial marketplace. Managed a $6 million budget. Worked closely with the international customers & User Acceptance Testing (UAT) teams. Products operated on Client-Server and Web platforms.

Provided on-site training on CaliberRM (requirements management tool). Also performed as a Process Engineer for a SDLC software sales/distribution company (CaliberRM). Co-developed and presented SDLC (software development life cycle) process evaluation and training material. Assisted Fortune 1000 clients (on-site) implementing effective and efficient requirements management (Business through detail requirements) and improve production/development lifecycle: by evaluating, documenting, training and mentoring the integration of (PPT) people, processes and technologies. Provided company-wide Quality leadership and guidance, while developing a QA team, tools and procedures for the application service provider (ASP) leader in eFinance. Areas of management included Quality Assurance, Quality Control (regression, integration and system tests & defect tracking), Configuration Management and Documentation. Led an ad-hoc testing organization into an organization to achieve Level 2-3 CMM in 6 nationwide company locations. Started with a QA team of 5 and developed it into a structure of 35 Quality Engineers, with zero turnover, on 15 various products. Product included: Internet Banking, Cash Management, Wireless Banking, 60+ interfaces, Bill Payment, etc., on various platforms and languages. Defined Quality guidelines & procedures using IEEE and SEI/CMM standards. Acquired $1.6million budget for the purchase of automated test software tools and test hardware. Tools included Mercury’s Test Suite (TestDirector, WinRunner & LoadRunner) and requirements tracking system (Borland -TBI’s Caliber-RM ALM) with training. Acquired a budget of $1 million for contracted testing services; negotiated and administered contract for up to 20 contracted Quality Engineers. Implemented an internal QA web site of 50 pages for reporting QA status, tools, processes, information and QA templates. Provided company-wide Quality training. Successfully completed an SAS-70 audit and an Office of Thrift Supervision (OTS) audit. Selected as Key Note speaker at TBI’s Executive Conference, May 2000. Also presented “Achieving Quality in eCommerce” at the Western Regional ASQ Conference in October 2000.

Provided QA leadership & development to support an Internet start-up that provided W3C security protocols for privacy support and accessibility. Developed processes to support CMM Level 2 and COQ. Acquired and implemented requirement management software tool and automated test tools (Caliber-RM & Mercury tools). Also led Configuration Management.

Phamus (IDX). Provided Quality leadership (cGMP regulations and 21 CFR Part 11) to a major medical system software developer including investigation and implementation of improved methods and processes to optimize automation technologies. Led a team of 8 SQE, and provided QA leadership to 30 STE dispersed in ten development teams. Responsible for new release testing coordination, reporting, defect tracking and daily SCRUMS (testing meetings) for integration tests, system tests and UAT exceeding 3000 test/hours. Software was developed for Tandom, NT, and Internet systems for major N. A. hospitals and clinics, i.e. Mayo Clinics. Developed UAT and Usability testing resources.

Trained over 2,000 adult students from introductory through advanced technical PC & Network courses. Developed and presented instruction of computer science topics including Software Quality Assurance (SQA). Developed and presented a 40 hours advanced networking workshop. Provided training on-site as well as in college classrooms. Performed on-site computer engineering and maintenance functions on PCs and networks. Developed and performed analysis of curriculum surveys for two Nursing training colleges. This resulted in improved curriculum and better trained nurses (15% increase of scores in state nursing exams for the students).

Greater Seattle Area

Developed and managed the Quality Information Network (QIIN) system and lead a team to support US Navy (DoD MIL-STD Q-9858a) & industrial (GMP) manufacturing requirements. The system was rated as the best in Honeywell of 17 systems evaluated. The system was a 60+ user, multi-file server LAN Novell system that supported Quality and other major departments (I received a Honeywell Technical Award for the system). Produced a 10 minute marketing and training video on the QIIN system. Hired, trained and led a team of 5 Quality Engineers. Developed a Cost of Quality (COQ) system (training, data collection and reporting) for the support of Total Quality Control (TQC). Served as team leader on two major computer integrated manufacturing information system (MRP-I & MRP-II) implementation teams. This required extensive knowledge of manufacturing, accounting and Human Resource processes and operations. Also served as the Quality's representative on various computer training, standards, CAD/CAM and planning committees. Managed the development of 20 hours of Computer Aided Training, complete with audio, video, and computer scoring for 6 student workstations. Led development of software for a Navy torpedo robotic system and led the USN Trident submarine 1st overhaul (of all forward electronics), 1st time done outside a sub's original shipyard.

Started out as a Tech Writer updating Mk 113 mod 10 Submarine Fire Control Sys (FCS). Then performed 6 weeks on site service support at Pearl Harbor, for 21B63 Training Device, TD, (6 students/1 instructor stations) for mod 10 FCS. Then back at New London, CT designed and programmed 20 hrs of computer aided training courses for the 21B63 TD. Including Coding in Assembler like code, designing 20 submarine tracking exercises, complete with synchronized recorded classified audio instruction. Also included captured student scoring.

Leadership on board a nuclear submarine during the cold war, and included the following duties: Computer maintenance and operation, sonar operator and leadership, ship's photographer, ship's security and safety. USN Submarine Service 9 YearsServed onboard a USN fast attack nuclear submarine for 5 years. Led a computer repair team, sonar operations team, photography team and ship (exterior) maintenance teams. After sea duty, attended Instructor Training and was assigned to a training command operating a submarine attack center simulator. Performed computer upgrades & maintenance as well as providing operational training to submarine crews and Prospective Commanding Officers (PCO).
