PhD project: Research on the railway track geometry surveying technology based on aided INS. My PhD research work deals with the theoretical and practical problems of the high-speed railway track geometry precise surveying based on aided inertial navigation system (INS).Key Achievements:• Pioneered in research of railway track precise measurement based on aided INS.• I designed and implemented the first railway track surveying trolley based on aided INS in China. Two Chinese invention patents have been authorized for this technique and my paper based on the outcomes of this research won the ION (Institute of Navigation) GNSS Student Paper Award in 2013.• The new surveying trolley based on the aided INS can fulfill 1 mm measurement accuracy in identifying track geometric deformation and irregularity in kinematic surveying mode and is at least TEN TIMES faster than the conventional approaches using optical approaches, such as total station.• This technique has been turned into a product and used in real high-speed railway track fine adjustment project
