My passion for virology, public health, disease control and prevention, drove me to pursue a Bachelor of Health Sciences Honours (Virology) degree at the University of the Witwatersrand (WITS), after graduating with a Bachelor of Health Sciences (Biomedical) degree from the same institution.During this time I gained leadership, community engagement, and organizational skills through my involvement in various Clubs, Societies, and Organizations (CSOs) at Wits, while serving as an executive member from 2021 to 2022.As a MMedSci scholarship recipient at the Africa Health Research Institute (AHRI) — an independent multidisciplinary health-research institute in Durban, South Africa; I strive to utilise this exciting opportunity to develop into a well-rounded researcher in the fields of immunology and virology, and contribute to the many efforts towards achieving an HIV cure.
