Tie into Ad Hoc Intergenerational programming to promote volunteer opportunities that create health benefits for all participants.* Environmental Stewardship- Creating opportunities and promoting responsibility for environmental quality by participating in community-based events that raise awareness about the efficient use of natural resources and the protection of local ecosystems. Volunteer hands-on work to improve environmental quality shared by all those whose actions affect the environment. Specific focus on beach/ ocean protection and urban forestry. *Speaker and Presentation Committee- Using skills as a youth journalist to identify speakers that can provide wisdom relevant to "Youth Commission Work Plan Goals and Outcomes Preparation" for the 2023-24 term.

Since its inception in 1987, the Encinitas Sister City Program has played a vital role in connecting our community with cities around the world, including the formalized relationship with Hondo, Japan, which has now become the City of Amakusa, Japan. The Encinitas Sister City’s Statement of Purpose is to promote greater understanding and respect between the citizens of Encinitas, California and its Sister Cities, by enriching the cultural and economic resources of each city through the planning and implementation of programs that foster mutual understanding, respect and goodwill. Participants will have the chance to experience life in Amakusa firsthand by staying with host families, engaging in cultural activities, and forming lasting friendships with their Japanese counterparts.
