Queensborough’s non-credit professional programs in the healthcare arena are expanding to include a Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA): Certification Preparation course. Through a partnership with Northwell Health, additional health care programs are being offered to our community. They include EMS/Safe Patient Handling, an Introduction to Environmental Hazards, and The Three R’s: Resiliency, Rest, and Recovery. New electives to our Medical Billing Certificate program include Medical Law and Therapeutic Communication and Spanish for HealthCare Professionals.Our new adult enrichment programs include deep dives into social media sites such as Goodreads®, Pinterest®, Reddit®: Social Networking. The Art History Series will focus on Marc Chagall, a pioneer of modernism, and Gustav Klimt, an Austrian symbolist painter and one of the most prominent members of the Vienna Secession movement. The History Series includes: The Empire of TEA: It’s Not Just a Cup of Chai; The Rise of the Modern World: The Industrial Revolution & the Factory System; and FDR: The Four Freedoms as America Prepares for War. We are also introducing a new class by and for seniors: Improve Your Balance, a series of simple exercises that you can use to give you confidence while walking.New additions to our Kids and Teens programming includes an ACT Preparation course to help boost scores for this national college admissions examination. And lastly, a new offering as part of our STE@M series: Young Pioneers & Trailblazing Thinkers, offered for children in grades 3-5.
